Drifters
Space Drifters: The Emerald Enigma

World: 22nd Century. Humans are spacefaring.

Races: Humans and myriads of aliens, including lizardmen.

Technology System: Magical. There is no attempt at scientific plausibility. Every sci-fi trope is fair game.

Premise: Odd Couple in Space. Mash together a bunch of far-fetched, unlikely buddies doing their best to survive in the galaxy.

Appraisal: Space Drifters follows the pattern of Space Team and Hal Spacejock, using a baffoon captain in a tight pickle to create humor. Space Drifters does it slightly better. Here's why.

The pace of the book is light, brisk, and fun-loving. One shenanigan after another gets space out with a few witty conversations that help make the characters more loveable.

Paul Regnier betrays no obsession for getting it right in describing the science behind space travel. Instead, he puts a hand-picked selection of exotic and ridiculous images into your head.

Overall, this is a fun, relaxing read, especially for those who love to daydream in outer space. Highly recommended.

Age recommendation: 13+
