is the pen name for the author of Florenz Nightingale and the Sword of Layban.After the Classics department at the University of Notre Dame refused to allow him to take doctoral exams because a professor had observed him praying with his Latin students before class, he moved on to live in Lebanon, Egypt, and Oman, eventually earning a Ph.D. in Near Eastern Languages and Civilizations from Yale University.
